Investigating issues relating to society and the urban environment provided an opportunity to explore new techniques and methods of working. The combining of processes and layering of techniques connote a multi-layered society.
Beneath the charming images and aesthetically satisfying patterns characterising the urban environment, a sinister presence exists. Hopkins simultaneously evokes the companionship of communities together with the ugly gangs who deface the city. These concepts are advanced by superimposing one printmaking technique on another; her medium is a powerful metaphor for urban life.
