 Afshar Malik

Ashfar Malik - contemporary pakistani printmakers

Afshar Malik was born in Bahawalpur, Punjab in 1955. His career as a printmaker began after he graduated with a degree in Fine Art from National College of Arts in Lahore and further studies in Fine Art at Slade School in London. He went on to lecture in printmaking, drawing and painting at National College of Arts and regularly exhibits in one-man and group shows across Asia.

By gathering my internal powers I gain the strength to fly above the world and discover a concept that is rich. Secure up in my own space I can allow this idea to grow. Slowly the making process takes over.

He walks into a space, takes off what he wears, takes on rags, smells of turps, inhales fumes and gasses, rolls inks on cold glass palettes. With a thought in process; mixed with sounds and voices in a working space, he begins.
